Launching the Transitional Services Department

March 16, 2023 by Jade Watts Leave a Comment

With the growth of our organization, the increasing importance of our reentry-focused services, and the continued expansions we anticipate over the next few years, we are restructuring Hudson Link to move our work with alumni into its own department, entitled Transitional Services, distinctive from our academic programs.

The Transitional Services department will encompass our alumni homecomings and immediate release needs, as well as case management, degree completion, and the programmatic aspects of our New Beginnings transitional housing program. Think of it as the one-stop-services-shop for recently released alumni.

Hudson Link’s own Elisabeth Santiago will lead the new department, promoted to Director of Transitional Services from her previously held the position of Alumni Services Manager. We are thrilled to see Elisabeth take on this new role and advance our Transitional Services work.

With the new name for the department, one of our latest programs is also receiving an update! Previously known as continuing education, our degree-completion program will now be called Finish Line. This initiative aims to help alumni complete degrees they began while inside, and support alumni pursuing vocational training or graduate degrees. The program’s goal is to truly help our alumni reach the “finish line” to begin the next stage in their educational journey and secure the career of their dreams.

We’re thrilled with the direction this restructure will take us, allowing our reentry service to expand not only to meet our alumni’s unique needs but to support their flourishing for years to come!

For this year’s Giving Tuesday, Give Connection! We are asking our community to help us provide our released alumni with essential technology for navigating our 21st Century world, as well as other basic necessities like underwear, cozy sweats, and socks.

Supporting the Giving Connections campaign is as simple as shopping on Amazon: visit the Giving Connection wishlist, select the items you wish to purchase for Hudson Link alumni, and make sure to choose Hudson Link’s office as the shipping destination at checkout. Please make sure to include a gift note so we know who each donation is coming from.

Thank you for all you do for Hudson Link alumni, this Giving Tuesday and all year round. We could not do this work without you!
