Assistant Program Director – Application

Role Summary

The Assistant Program Director supports the entire program department in the execution of Hudson Link’s academic programs. This role ensures day-to-day program operations run smoothly, assists with staff management, and helps coordinate communication between correctional facilities, partner colleges, alumni, and Hudson Link staff.

The Assistant Program Director will report to the Program Director, and step into leadership responsibilities when the Program Director is unavailable. The hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with needed flexibility in working evenings when correctional facility program schedules require it. The majority of this role must be conducted on-site and in-person.

What You Will Do:

Program Coordination & Support:

  • Assist in ensuring that Hudson Link’s college and pre-college programs are running effectively and in compliance
  • Monitor daily operations and Academic Coordinators’ weekly progress toward program coordination timelines challenges
  • Serve as a backup point of contact/provide skilled facility coverage for any Academic Coordinator or the Program Director as needed
  • Oversee financial aid processes and provide support to Academic Coordinators as needed
  • Provide high-level oversight for the collection and maintenance of student data using custom Salesforce data
  • Maintain organized program records, schedules, and reports
  • Occasional travel to correctional facilities, colleges, conferences, etc

Staff & Volunteer Support:

  • Support the Program Director in supervising Academic Coordinators, Student Records Coordinator, and any interns/volunteers
  • Support the processes of onboarding and training new staff
  • Serve as the organization’s single point of contact with Department of Corrections and Community Supervision’s Volunteer Services offices, submitting and managing all volunteer applications related to Hudson Link programs, services, and events
  • Meet with prospective instructors and assess fit for teaching in a prison setting, as well as provide ongoing connection to resources for faculty support (Hudson Link Team)
  • Attend monthly all-staff and bi-weekly program team meetings
  • Represent Hudson Link at external meetings or events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are:

  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. Education, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Nonprofit Management)
  • At least three years of program management or coordination experience in a nonprofit or higher education setting
  • Experience working with the criminal justice system and/or higher education programs strongly preferred
  • Highly organized self-starter with exceptional attention to detail
  • Emotionally intelligent relationship builder
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office and client management databases (Salesforce preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Commitment to Hudson Link’s mission of education, reentry, and reducing recidivism

What You Can Expect:

  • Starting Salary of $65,000 – $75,000 commensurate with experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 15 days/year paid time off & 9 paid holidays/office closures
  • $100/month wellness reimbursement
  • Retirement plan: Hudson Link matches contributions to 403(b) accounts up to 3%
